Mondays with Mac: Fear

by jerome on January 26, 2009

Mac Anderson"Fear kills more people than death." ~ General George Patton

Master success coach, Steve Chandler said, "The world’s best kept secret is that on the other side of your fear there is something safe and beneficial waiting for you. If you pass through even a thin curtain of fear you will increase the confidence you have in your ability to create your life."

Your ability to confront your fears is one of the most important keys to staying motivated. Because when you back away and do nothing, fear can quickly dominate your thinking and your emotions.

Everyone has fears and it takes courage to confront them.

Mark Twain said, "Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear – not- absence of fear."

When you’re afraid, you have two choices: to do nothing and let the fear fester like a cancer, or identify the person or situation that is causing your fear and deal with it immediately.

Can it be difficult?

Of course it can, but the alternative to constant worry and pain is much worse.

I love your post! Thanks!
This is true in every aspects of our life;
Fear of failure was something haunting me for a long time… But when I realized that if I fail, it means that I try more than the average and get closer to success, I then switch my perspective on my fear of failure.
It’s all in our perspective of looking at it.
Embracing it as a part of life was my second Ah ah. It’s all a big game and the winners play the game. It ain’t about perfection, but progress…

Thanks for your inspiration…

Good Morning Matt,

I am new to your Blog. It is refreshing to read through something with ‘positive’ stuff … to chew on and/or get the mental juices going. If some of the result is a domino effect for the good of the one entertaining it – well it could effect many more. It is amazing what one person can do!!!

Otherwise as I am babbling this morning (enough coffee..), I wonder what your personal story is. How did you arrive to where you are now, Today? I think that maybe you have seen adversity (or is it plural?) Just wondered what has shaped and honed you. Hm. Yes, I will read more as the time permits.

Thanks for permitting my response, greta s.

Greta,

Thank you so much for your response. I am delighted that you find our blog to be helpful. Especially keep an eye out for the entries from “Mac’s Journal”.

Well, my personal story is not nearly impressive as Mac’s. I have had a few sales positions in my day, and spent some time overseas. Coincidentally, one summer in my college career I sold books door to door with Southwestern, the very same company that Mac worked for as a college student during his summers.

Thanks for your response, and I am looking forward to reading more from you!

Matt Lee
